Infant / Baby Massage Kalispell

Infant / Baby Massage is a priceless gift to give to your baby with limitless benefits for both you and your baby. Because it is very bonding it is better for the parents to learn how to do it, so I have become a certified infant massage instructor through "International Loving Touch Foundation" so I can teach parents techniques and various pointers to make this a safe and beautiful experience between them and their baby. Though there is a lot of interesting information to discover and a whole routine of different massage strokes and techniques, infant massage should be very relaxed and only done to the comfort and enjoyment of both parents and baby.

Sensory input is essential in facilitating the development of infants and infant massage is one of the best ways to provide tactile stimulation. Its benefits overreach those gained by holding, caressing, rocking, and loving your baby (though these things are also vital). That's because it is gently stimulating almost all their tiny developing nerve receptors which are positively promoting important connections in the developing brain which sends messages to all parts of the body causing them to work most efficiently for a healthy, happy baby.

Extensive research has been done proving the importance of infant massage. Whether the baby is on track developmentally and "normal", or in a compromised condition due to things such as drug exposure or simply being brought into the world prematurely, infant massage will put them ahead. A study conducted at the University of Miami Medical Center by Field, Schanberg, and others observed that preemies who received a total of 45 minutes of massage (three 15 minute segments) per day for 10 days gained 47% more weight than non-massaged controls (though caloric intake was about the same). They maintained a more active alert state, and showed more mature habituation, orientation, motor and range of state behavior by the Brazleton scale than the control infants. They were discharged from the hospital an average of 6 days earlier saving thousands of dollars per infant. This is just a few benefits out of one study. You will find more benefits under "Benefits" tab.
