Questions & Answers
What are the main types of massage requested?
The most commonly requested massages include Swedish (for relaxation), Deep Tissue (for deeper more therapeutic work that helps relieve knots and deep tension in the muscles, etc), Sports (for sport related injuries and in pre and post sports events), and Chair (for neck, shoulders, back, arms, and hands while you are fully clothed).
Will my health insurance cover massage?
There are a growing number of health care plans that cover massage. Call your provider and find out specifically if they will cover it and if so, what percentage they will cover. Also, some insurance policies require that you have a doctor's prescription for it so if this is the case, this would have to be secured from the doctor or chiropractor beforehand.
How often do I need to get a massage to feel the benefits?
You can experience many benefits immediately after the massage and will probably feel more relaxed for the first 3 days following it. However, if you are looking for long term benefits in relation to recovering from an accident or injury, the more consistent you are with getting massages the faster and longer the results will be. Once you are back to feeling good again, it is ideal to do a massage once a month to help keep the muscles in good condition.
What should I do after a massage?
It's very important to drink lots of water after a massage. During a massage, the muscles often release many toxins and it will have the potential of taxing the immune system or simply going back into the muscles if it does not get flushed out. It is also ideal if you can take a rest or a short stroll in a peaceful area.
